The vacuum runs and the motor is loud, but it picks up poorly or not at all — the problem is in the airflow system. This is one of the easiest small-appliance faults to prevent, because most causes are about routine maintenance.
The most common causes: a full dust container or bag; filters (HEPA, motor-protection) clogged with dust; a blockage in the hose, tube or nozzle; the brush roll tangled with hair and fibres; an air leak (a hole in the hose or joints). More technical causes are a worn motor or a switch/power problem.
If it doesn't start at all, the issue is the power line, switch or motor circuit. Weak suction almost always means an airflow obstruction.
You can do most of it yourself: empty the dust container or change the bag; remove and clean the filters, or dry washable filters fully before refitting (never refit a wet filter); check the hose and tubes for blockage; cut and clear hair and fibres tangled in the brush roll. These steps usually restore suction.
Do not open the motor, do not refit a wet filter, and do not vacuum water or large objects. If the motor overheats (burnt smell), switch off immediately — that signals a blockage or motor problem.
A 166 Usta small appliances technician checks the airflow system in order: dust container and filters, hose and tubes, brush roll, leaks and the motor. A simple blockage or filter issue is cleaned; a faulty motor or switch is replaced with the correct part.
The technician checks suction power, air leaks, the motor's current draw and the filter/hose condition. This matters because "weak suction" can come from simple maintenance or from a worn motor, and the cause must be identified correctly.
Usually monthly filter cleaning and timely emptying of the dust container is enough; shorten the interval with heavy use.
If there is a burnt smell or overheating, switch off immediately. The cause is often a blockage or dirty filter; if cleaning doesn't fix it, the motor should be checked.
If the filter, container and hose are clean but suction is weak, or there is a burnt smell or abnormal noise, contact a small appliances technician. For home cleaning see 166 Təmizlik, and the 166 Usta blog.
