Early signs of plumbing problems at home

Plumbing problems often start with small signs. If you pay attention to these signs in time, you can avoid major costs and damages.

Decreased water pressure

Decreased water pressure in faucets or showerheads is the first sign of a problem in the pipe system.

Frequently Asked Questions

A partly closed inlet valve, clogged filter or aerator, a pipe leak or low mains pressure may be responsible. First check whether the problem affects one tap or the entire home.
Remove and clean the aerator and confirm that the isolation valves below the tap are fully open. If pressure remains low, a plumber should inspect the mixer cartridge and that branch of pipework.
A hidden leak may be present if the meter moves while all taps are closed, damp patches appear or pressure drops suddenly. Close the main valve and call a plumber.
